Powder Post Beetles: Powder Post Beetles will only infest hardwood lumber such as oak, maple and others. Produce small exit holes from 1/32” to 1/16” in diameter. Very fine powder or frass beneath holes indicates active infestation. Required moisture content for beetle development is between 8-32%. Egg to adult can be as short as 3 months or as long as 5 years.

Required moisture content for development is between 10-28%. A loud rhythmic clicking sound is from the larval stage feeding. Egg to adult can be as short as 2 years or as long as 15 years.
